BRING POST OFFICE INTO YOUR COMPUTER

If you're tired of having to go to the Post Office to buy stamps and weighing packages to get shipping information and rates, then you might want to check out Simply Postage from Neopost. The PROmail is an integrated electronic scale and printer that fits in the palm of your hand. It connects to your Windows based computer via a serial or USB connection and comes with easy to use software that lets you download postage from the Internet, track postage usage and maintains a complete name and address record keeping system.

You simply place your envelope or package on the PROmail and select from a variety of delivery methods such as First Class, Priority, Express and International Mail. Rates are automatically calculated and the special encrypted postage stamp is thermally printed (no ink needed) on the self-adhesive label. The PROmail can also be used without a computer via its Insta-Stamp feature.

Since Federal Regulations prohibit private ownership of mailing devices, the unit must be leased and returned to Neopost when service is terminated. Neopost offers different start up promotions so check their web site for details at www.simplypostage.com

Software for your cat

If you're both a computer owner and cat lover, CyberPounce has got some software for you. That's right. CyberPounce is entertainment software for your cat. According to the company, CyberPounce has been "lovingly crafted by game software experts under the watchful eye of a leading animal behaviorist specializing in felines." Basically, the idea here is to make your computer display images and sounds that will attract your cat to your computer. But I have to wonder if that's something you really want to do. After all, having Frisky walk all over your keyboard and screen while depositing hair and dander everywhere might not be the best thing for your computer. Still, CyberPounce really does seem to do all it claims. For you nonbelievers, visit the CyberPounce web site where you can watch videos of playful cats batting the computer screen and mouse and generally having a great time wreaking havoc with your precious computer. CyberPounce comes with over 40 sounds, computer toys and animations plus a screen saver that will keep your cat purrfectly happy. $14.95.

Shed a light on your screen

We all know that reading a book in poor lighting is bad for your eyes. Well the same holds true for your computer screen. Using your screen in a dark room can tire your eyes in no time flat. If you find yourself using a screen in a poorly lit room, check out the Eclipse Computer Light from OneTech. The Eclipse is designed to fit squarely on top of virtually any computer screen. The Eclipse's flat reflector tilts to divert the light straight down at the optimal angle and illuminates the entire face of the monitor as well as your keyboard. This effectively reduces and softens the glaring contrast between the light that comes from the screen and the rest of the room. If you find yourself burning the midnight oil in front of your computer, you'll find that an Eclipse is a great way to shine a little light on the subject. $39.95
