FREE INTERNET BROWSER OFFERS BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
If you crave all of those extra features that are missing in Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) without having to give up all that's desirable in that web browser, stick around. Microsoft's Internet Explorer is generally acknowledged to be the most popular web browser out there. Yet it lacks many of the desirable features found in competing browsers such as Mozilla and Opera. However seamless integration with Windows, a greater compatibility with more websites, and the most support from third party plug-in modules and applications all continue to compel most Internet users into sticking with IE. But there may be another alternative that offers everything that IE does and more. That's because this other browser still IS Internet Explorer. Let me explain.
The so-called heart of any browser is its rendering engine that does the job of interpreting the HTML code being sent to it from the Internet. These codes are translated into the text, graphics, links and the general layout of everything we see within the browser window on our computer screens. HTML code is also sent back to the Internet from the browser when we interact with the data presented within the browser's display. And while all of this code being sent back and forth is supposed to be browser independent, unfortunately it is not. And given that IE is the most popular browser out there, most web sites tend to make sure that they first comply with IE standards. Now while Microsoft tends to be secretive about the inner working of most of its applications, Microsoft does make its IE engine available to companies that may want to use it within their own product. And that's exactly what a company called FlashPeak has done.
FlashPeak's SlimBrowser is a full-featured web browser that has many of the desired bells and whistles found in those competing web browsers. But unlike those other browsers that use their own rendering engines, SlimBrowser uses the rendering engine of the IE browser. Basically, SlimBrowser contains all those missing IE features you've been craving such as tabbed multiple-site windows, form fillers, auto login, scripting, a built-in popup killer, skinned window frame, online translation, blacklist / whitelist filtering and lots more. Yet it all comes with the same compatibility you've come to know and love with IE because deep down underneath, it is IE.
The latest version of SlimBrowser adds several new features including a mini file uploader with the ability to save and load new jobs. If you want a more detailed listing of what SlimBrowser actually has to offer, a quick visit to FlashPeak's web site will spell it all out for you. And of course, their location is fully compatible with IE. If you have a favorite third-party enhancement running on your copy of IE, you should definitely check out what will and what won't work with SlimBrowser. For example, the Google and RoboForm Toolbars work just fine, but the toolbar from eBay won't work. But don't despair since FlashPoint continues to work on making everything compatible with their SlimBrowser. They are constantly coming out with newer versions.
But the best feature of SlimBrowser has to be its price. SlimBrowser is a free program and is downloadable from www.flashpeak.com. SlimBrowser works with most versions of Windows. While you're there, you may want to check out FlashPeak's many other freeware and shareware offerings.
